2020 Jeep Compass Trailhawk Redesign – Jeep launched its new Jeep Compass at the end of 2020 in Australia. Since the last compass was a very soft option, adding the Trailhawk version for the latest generation is welcome. The compact SUV segment is becoming busier, but with very few real dual-range 4WD options. This segment accounts for approximately 20% of the total-growth SUV segment, so its importance should not be underestimated.

Compass Trailhawk is unequivocally seen as a Jeep. It presents the grill of 7 slots of historical importance, a daring and muscular design and, in the case of red with black bonnet, a surprising appearance. It has a slightly flat nose and a short rear eave. From the side, it moves through the high waist and lifts slightly in the back.
From the front looks like a smaller version of the Grand Cherokee. In short, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk looks very elegant and gets a big boost from my appearance.

The first thing as a driver, you notice, is the upright position of the seat. It actually feels good. The leather seats are supportive, but a little hard for the platoon. The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable multi with an extra lumbar bracket that is thanked.
In front of the driver you will find a nice and thick leather steering wheel, with adjustable height and scope, with controls for the MFD, audio system and cruise control. In front of the controller there is a double-dial board with a configurable MFD between the dials. The rear seats are really designed for two occupants. They have a short seat and may feel a little flat as well.
However, surprisingly, there is a lot of space for the higher passengers with adequate space for the head, shoulders, knees and feet. The rear games are folded almost flat in a 60/40 configuration. This gives the boot a very useful loading space. With the rear seats in the normal position, the load volume is 438L.
A really good feature is the high-opening boot cap, enough for my 190 cm to fit easily. In general, the interior, with its red leather edge and soft spots for the arms and elbows, feels spacious, light and comfortable.
Unit and Motor
The Trailhawk is powered by a 2.0 L multi-engine diesel turbo engine that produces 125kW/350Nm The fuel economy on the highway was reduced to 6.1 L/100k and around the city averaged about 9.0 l/100k and the Trailhawk has a dual-range 4×4 system.
To facilitate this, the Trailhawk introduces the advanced system Jeep Active Drive Low 4 × 4 that offers the modes Auto, Sand, Mud, Snow for the best driving experience in all terrains. As mentioned, it is the only Compass with dual-range transmission that includes exclusive Rock mode on its select-Terrain.
So on the road, the Trailhawk drives, rides and manages almost like others in the segment. Where it beats most competitors is off road. As you may have guessed, the Trailhawk is a real 4WD. The combination of the legendary dual-range system and the Jeep design features means that when the black top is turned off, the Trailhawk tends to stand out.
Nothing really disturbed him. Like most standard 4WD, it’s not a rock hopper, but it will absorb most of what normal drivers would throw you easily. I had the opportunity to drive extensively in the arena. Here the Trailhawk was amazing.
However, I would choose my off-road roads, as Creek crosses could be problematic with a low wading depth. That said, the approach angles, exit and ramp ramp of the Trailhawk are better than those of the Toyota Fortuner with the same distance to the ground without load. Take a moment to let that sink and realize how serious the off-road Trailhawk can be.

It looks great, feels like home in the center of the city as on the track of Birdsville, will take four adults with comfort and provides the much needed character to the small segment of medium SUV.
